CRITERIA FOR APPLICATION FOR THE WELSH CORGI PEMBROKE JUDGING LISTS
A1 LIST
For persons who have previously been approved by the Kennel Club to award CC’s in the breed and
have completed their first appointment.
To have the support of the Welsh Corgi Pembroke Judges Committee.
A2 LIST
For persons who fulfil all the requirements for the A3 list and who have been assessed in accordance
with kennel club requirements and accepted by The Kennel Club for inclusion on an A2 list; and
To have the support of the Welsh Corgi Pembroke Judges Committee.
A3 LIST SPECIALIST
- Minimum of 7 years judging experience In the breed and have the support of the Welsh Corgi Pembroke Judges Committee
- To have judged TWO Welsh Corgi Pembroke CLUB Shows.
- To have judged the breed at 10 (TEN) Open Shows or Championship shows without CC’s with an adequate geographical spread.
- To have judged a minimum of 30 (thirty) classes.
- To have judges a minimum of 70 (seventy) Pembroke Corgis.
- To have attended a seminar given by a kennel club accredited trainer, and passed the relevant examination on Kennel Club Regulations and judging procedures.
- To have attended a seminar given by a kennel club accredited trainer on Confirmation and Movement.
- To have attended at least one Breed Specific Seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.
- To have attended a confirmation and movement ‘Hands on assessment’ conducted by a KC accredited trainer and passed the assessment.
- To have bred and/or owned a minimum of 3 dogs when they obtained their 1st entry in the KC stud book
- To have stewarded at 12 shows.
A3 LIST NON SPECIALIST
- Minimum of 7 years judging experience In the breed and have the support of the Welsh Corgi Pembroke Judges Committee.
- To have judged TWO Welsh Corgi Pembroke CLUB Show.
- To have judged the breed at 10 (TEN) Open Shows or Championship shows without CC’s with an adequate geographical spread.
- To have judged a minimum of 30 classes.
- To have judged a minimum of 70 Pembroke Corgis.
- To have awarded CC’s in at least ONE other breed.
- To have attended at least one Breed Specific Seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.
- To have bred and/or owned a minimum of 3 dogs when they obtained their 1st entry in the KC stud book. (Save in exceptional circumstances)
B LIST (BREED SPECIALIST AND NON SPECIALIST)
- To have 5 (five) years experience owning and exhibiting dogs and have the support of the Welsh Corgi Pembroke Judges Committee.
- To have judged a minimum of 15 classes and a minimum 45 Pembroke Corgis.
- To have attended a Welsh Corgi Pembroke Seminar/Training and passed the examination.
- To have successfully completed 1 mentoring session at either a Breed Club Show or at a General Championship show.
- Stewarded at least 6 (six) times.
C LIST (BREED SPECIALIST)
- Actively showing in Pembroke Corgis for 5 (five) years, and have the support of the Welsh Corgi Pembroke Judges Committee.
- Assisted with stewarding for Pembroke Corgi Classes at any show.
C LIST (NON SPECIALIST)
- Actively showing in any breed for 5 (five) years.
- To have shown an interest in Pembroke Welsh Corgis and have the support of the Welsh Corgi Pembroke Judges committee.
- Assisted with stewarding at any show.
- To be on a Breed Club ‘B’ List (any other breed).
All applications are considered individually by the Welsh Corgi Pembroke Judges Committee, whose decision is final.
CRITERIA FOR APPLICATION FOR THE JUDGES EDUCATION PROGRAMME
LEVEL 1
Eligibility to judge up to 3 classes (4 if one is a puppy class) for any breed at Limited or Open Shows
- Minimum of 5 (Five) years proven interest in pedigree dogs
- Take and pass Requirements of a Dog show Judge examination. (Judges attending an online Requirements of a Dog Show judge seminar may take the exam via The Kennel Club Academy – Exam effective 1st January 2024)
- Attend a Conformation and Movement seminar
- Pass Points of a Dog assessment (effective 1 January 2024)
- Complete a minimum of two full-day stewarding appointments
LEVEL 2
Eligibility to judge Unlimited number of classes for the respective breed at limited, open or championship shows (no Challenge Certificates) and
Any variety classes, groups and best in show at limited shows
First breed:
- Attend a breed appreciation day (BAD) and pass a multiple-choice examination (MCE) for the respective breed
- View online ring stewarding seminar and take online quiz
- Complete online critique writing seminar and take online quiz
Subsequent breeds:
- Attend a breed appreciation day (BAD) and pass a multiple-choice examination (MCE) for each breed.
(Note: not mandatory for Group Judge for breeds in the group that they are not approved at level 4, but attendance strongly recommended)
LEVEL 3
Eligibility to judge Unlimited number of classes for the respective breed at limited, open or championship shows (no Challenge Certificates) and
Any variety classes, groups and best in show at limited shows
- Undergo minimum of 3 (Three) Mentoring sessions with a minimum of 12 months between first and third session.
- Be observed judging a breed club show breed supported entry show or championship show without Challenge Certificates once all mentoring sessions have been undertaken
- Complete remaining 10 full-day stewarding appointments (one-time qualification)
- Have owned/bred a minimum of three dogs when they obtained their first entry in TheKennel Club Stud Book – save for exceptional circumstances (one-time qualification for first breed in which a judge awards Challenge Certificates)
- Attended the appropriate sub-group field trial/ open gundog working test for first gundog breed or ring procedure at licensed shows (German Shepherd Dog Education Programme) online exam (one-time qualification)
- Have achieved the relevant hands-on experience in line with the stated requirements for the relevant judging tier. (Currently Tier 3 at November 2023 – 70 dogs traditional Route and 35 JEP Route)
- Pass ‘Eye for a Dog’ assessment for judges progressing for a fourth or subsequent breed under JEP route
LEVEL 4
Eligibility to Award Challenge Certificates in the respective breed and
Any variety classes, groups and best in show at open and limited shows
- Attend and pass a Breed Specific Assessment for the specific breed run by The Kennel Club
- Already Passed for CCs before JEP
