At Working and Pastoral Breeds of Wales our judge was Sue Hewart-Chambers (Sunhaze Dachshunds, Pyreneans and Maremmas) awarding CCs in Pems for the first time.
Her BOB was Kevin Dover and Lars Saether’s Ch Pemcader Thunderball (Ch Pemcader Belroyd Zeus ex Pemcader Black Glamour), with his 56th CC just one off equalling the record for the breed.
BCC was a first for Nicki and Chris Blance, Bill Shelton and Steve Leyerly’s Penliath Sent From Coventry, so becoming the third CC winner in the litter conceived by artificial insemination by Am Ch Ninacorte Chicago Hope ex Coventry Dancing With The Stars for Penliath. The others are Ch Penliath Sent To Coventry and Penliath Spanner In The Worx (two CCs), the latter reserve in dogs at this show.
RCC went to another on two CCs, Tracy and Kath Irving’s Twinan Tight Squeeze (Twinan Dip Yer Butty ex Debsanna’s Promises Twinan). She also won the Buddies yearling bitch stakes under Raye Parry which qualifies her for the final at the beginning of next year. Crescenthill-Brynlea Moon Glow was third in the equivalent male class. Barawood Summer Solace won the beginners stakes and Clairmar Red Bracken was fifth in the junior stakes under Terrie Cousins-Brown.
BP was Wynne and Delith Davies’ Craigycor Top Model at Ceranda (Ch/Ir Ch Craigycor Lightning Bolt ex Craigycor Ceranda Gower Glory) and BV Mary Davies’ tri Ch/Rus/Ukr Ch Ermyn Snow Knight (Ch/Am Ch Rosewood Set Sail to Salvenik ex Wharrytons Pansy Potter at Ermyn), who went on to second in the veteran group under Barrie Croft.
So sorry to hear that Hilary and Ray Wyer’s Ch Chawton Call Me Madam at Cottivy has died at the age of 12. Bred in Ireland by John O’Mahoney by Ch Salvenik Star Made ex Arwen of Chawton, she and her CC-winning brother Wizard Of Oz gave them a great start in the breed.
She was one of those slow maturers who then became a real laster. With her striking outline she went on to gain her title, and subsequently enjoyed a consistently successful career in the veteran classes. Through her daughter Cottivy Prejudice she is behind many of their more recent winners. I know ‘Ruby’ will be greatly missed.
The Potomac club is another to hold a double specialty and Tim Mathiesen (Nebriowa) judged on the first day. His BOB was Nancy and Mike Oehlhof’s GChS Springmill A Blast From The Past (GCh Springmill Sweet Talkin Guy ex GCh Springmills Dec Th’ Halls) with BOIS to Mari Carroll’s bitch GChB Brogan Bright Light (GChB Heritage Brogan Light The Lamp ex GCh Brogan Tralee).
The following day our own Liz Cartledge (Ryslip) made Blast From The Past BOS with the top spot going to Dede Rodgers and Mary Greenwood’s bitch GCh Greenwoods Sparkling Diamond (Ch Greenwoods Midnight Flyer ex Ch Sandfox Greenwoods Chances Are).
Off now to New Zealand where the Central Welsh Corgi League celebrated its 50th anniversary with two specialties. Vicki Sandage (Sandfox) from the US was continuing her trip Down Under after the Australian National and her BOB and BIS at the first show was Jon and Karen Truscott’s tri Ch Fa Wood Makin Sassy Music (Ch/Aus Ch Merthyr Wanda Be The Piano Man ex Fa Wood Bucketful Of Charm). DCC and RBOB was Jill Hooper’s Ch Dwynella Designer Genes (Ch Parkways Trail Blazer for Dwynella ex Ch Dwynella Roll The Dice).
Next day John Burgess (Breconmohr) from Australia made the decisions and his BOB and BIS was Anne Lacey and Wendy O’Callaghan’s Ch Kelbryn Fizz’n Down The Track with Kawera (Am/Aus/Can Ch Caamora Gandy Dancer RN HSAs ex Kelbryn Fizz’n Up at Kawera). Sassy Music won RBOB and RBCC with Designer Genes again taking the DCC.
