Puppy group success at Darlington

Darlington is another of the six new ‘all-breed’ shows for 2019 but it has had CCs available for Pembrokes for as long as it has had championship status.

Our judge this year was Tom Johnston (Feldkirk Flatcoats etc) and he found a new face to win a first CC and BOB. This was Alan and Sarah Matthews’ Ir Ch Towernaglen Buster Moon at Craigycor. I’m sure breeder Liam McCormick will have been very happy as this is the first UK CC winner he has bred though he has had several Irish champion. Buster is by Ir Ch Craigycor Viva Las Vegas (who himself won his first CC earlier this year) ex Ir Ch Towernaglen Red Spinel.

He was later shortlisted by Pem enthusiast Steve Atkinson who was judging his first pastoral group. He’s the fourteenth different male to win a CC in 2019, rather a contrast to recent years.

Bitch CC, her ninth, went to Alan and Wendy Rees’ Ch Stadwen Tinkerbell (Ch Stadwen Spartakus ex Stadwen Prima Donna), and Amanda’s Stadwen Lancelot (two CCs, Cordach Gatland ex Ch Stadwen Honey Bunn) won the RDCC. The show schedules enter-on-the-day classes for the RBOS winners at Darlington and Lancelot won the dog class under Keith Baldwin.

RBCC was Chris and Nicki Blance, Bill Shelton and Steve Leyerly’s Ch Penliath Sent From Coventry (Am Ch Ninacorte Chicago Hope ex Coventry Dancing With The Stars for Penliath), and Nicki and Chris also took BP with Penliath Bill Me Later (Am/NZ Ch Coventry Esquire ex Ch Penliath Femme Fatale) who went on to improve on her two previous PG3 awards by topping the puppy group judged by Frank Whyte, giving us a representative in the final the following day.

For the tenth time this year BV was Mary Davies’ tri Ch/Rus/Ukr Ch Ermyn Snow Knight (Ch/Am Ch Rosewood Set Sail to Salvenik ex Wharrytons Pansy Potter at Ermyn). Her was also fourth in the veteran stakes under Irene McManus.

Katie Read won a third in the YKC handling judged by David Shields.

The Danish Corgi Club recently held its 45th anniversary show and the Pem judge was our own Cerys Davies (Ceranda). BOB was Ingrid Höcky’s bitch Ch/Sw Ch Lejregård’s One And Only (Am Ch Triad Panoramic ex Dragonjoy Dream Of Spring) and she also won BOS with the American-bred bobtail tri Gwyndolyns Black Caviar.(Cuuchin Champagne And Caviar ex Fair Manor Golden Trinket at Gwyndolyns).
