National in Australia

Jo Hayward tells me the East Anglian Sub-Section is holding its spring Corgi walk and pub lunch in Norfolk on Sunday April 28. They will meet at noon in the Bell Hotel, King Street, Thetford IP24 2AZ for lunch. Afterwards those who wish to may go for a walk along the river and back to the hotel for a hot drink. “A great opportunity to meet up for a lovely walk with our beautiful dogs and enjoy a catch-up too,” says Jo. If you'd like to go, PM Bev Blake or Joanna Hayward as soon as possible. Jo is also hoping for Corgi support for an event rejoicing in the name of ‘Pooch’s In The Park’, a family fun day on Sunday June 23 from 10am to 4pm with various doggy events including a fun dog show starting at 11am. It’s at the very Pembroke-appropriate venue of the Visitor Centre at Sandringham and is in aid of there Norfolk Hospice. The Australian Corgi National was hosted by the New South Wales breed club this time and sounds like a classy affair held at Hawkesbury Race Club. The judge was Vicki Sandage (Sandfox) from the US, a nice double for her as of course she did the EuroCorgi show in England last year. Thanks to Michelle Pratley for the results and to those who posted various catalogue pages; these had the very welcome bonus of a three-generation pedigree of each dog. BOB was the bobtail bitch Sup Ch/Norw/San/Fin/Sw Ch Bojojamile Behind The News (Sup Ch Bojojamile Bean Serious ex Ch Bojojamile Behind Closed Doors), owned by Joan and Bob Hutton. She previously spent some time in Norway with the Wilbergs and you may well have seen her at the EuroCorgi where Vicki made her second in open.
She ended up RBIS behind the New Zealand-bred Cardigan Ch Kawera Custom Maid. DCC and best Australian bred in show was Nicole Newitt’s Ch Newpry Marlon Brando (Ch Brookehaven Trade Secret ex Ch Dygae Norma Jean). Reserves were Debbie Angel’s Sup Ch Aingealag Dare To Dream (Sup Ch Antudor Dream Lover ex Gr Ch Infavour Its All Upto Me) and Kitty Flynn’s NZ-bred Ch Glenopal Costa Penny (Am/NZ Ch Coventry Esquire ex Glenopal Stand An Wispa). Other Pems to take ‘in show’ award were: baby, Anwyl Keep The Last Kiss Forme (sorry don’t have that catalogue page); minor, Aziah Winter Solstice (Am Ch Wynfox Lion In Winter ex Anwyl Angel Of The Morning); puppy, Ch Fergwyn In Style (Ch Pemvale Great Expectations ex Ch Fergwyn Felicia Style); junior, Anbenly Springtime In Paris (Sup Ch Anwyl Fast Track To Paris ex Anbenly Love Song). The show was held just before Sydney Royal where the same exhibitors won the CCs but the other way round. BOB was Sup Ch Bojojamile Bit Of A Cracker (Ch/NZ Ch Dwynella Made By Design ex Ch Bojojamile Beam Of Sunshine) and BCC and RBOB Ch Newpry Audrey Jean (sister of Marlon). Judge was Davor Javor from Croatia. Cracker was BIS at the last National in Adelaide. Meanwhile the Greater Atlanta club in the US was holding a specialty judged by Stephanie Hedgepath (Jimanie). BOB was Kara Janiszak’s Ch Sterling Shine The Light (GCh Lionhart’s All About Harry ex GCh Sundance Grace Kelly) and BOS Janet and Bill Richardson-s 12-year-old GChG Honeyfox So Dash N Debonair CD RAE. No British show news this week - please keep be informed of any breed club show results or group placings at open shows. SIMON PARSONS
