First puppy to win five CCs

Our penultimate CC show of the year was the Cambria club at Perdiswell near Worcester with Teresa Maddox (Salvenik) judging. Thanks to secretary Andrew Morris for results.

BOB and a fifth CC went to Ena Ellwood’s bobtail tri Ch Ellhar Maksimos, who is by Ch Salvenik Set To Star ex Ellhar Encantada.

It was also a fifth CC for the bitch and this set yet another new breed record as Nicki and Chris Blance’s Penliath Bill Me Later becomes the first Pem to win five while still a puppy. She took her tenth BP award and was RBOB and ended up BPIS judged by Allan Taylor (Belroyd). She is by Am/NZ Ch Coventry Esquire ex Ch Penliath Femme Fatale.

Two bobtail littermates added to their extensive collections of RCCs, Alan and Elaine Barlow’s tri Woodhenge Star Agent for Pendrell and Barry and Sue Coulson’s Woodhenge Storm Princess (one CC). They are by Ch Pemcader Thunderball ex Woodhenge Moon Maiden.

BV was Babs and Wally Aylott’s tri Barwal Belle (Foxfire Red Ruffian at Pemland ex Pemcader Belroyd Zoe of Barwal). Amazingly, she will soon be 13 years old. BPD was Hilary and Ray Wyer’s tri Cottivy Cappuccino (Cottivy Skyfall ex Brisam Mokka at Cottivy).

Louise Hill tells me than six puppies from her recent litter of ten have qualified for Crufts - would be interested to hear of any other comparable examples down the years.

Ros Gardiner (Elmsmere) has been judging at the Welsh Shepherd Dog specialty in Moscow where her BOB was Natalia Filatova’s Ch Andvol Evrika (Ch Hazelmere Bound For Glory ex Andvol Berberi) and BOS Oxana Samarina’s Andvol Bittersweet Spell (Int Ch The Goodboy Beyond Fame ex Andvol Tsunami), a good day for Marina Volkova’s breeding.

At the South Island club show in New Zealand Australian multi-breed judge Ashley Reid gave both top spots to Barbara Hyde, BIS with Stormwey Bet Ya Wood (Cwmbran Magic Ring ex Ch Stormwey Golden Delight) and RBIS to Ch Stormwey Madame Butterfly (Am GCh Cariadh Iron Butterfly ex Ch Stormwey Miss Lucy).

Don’t forget to prepare your advertisements and portrait gallery entries for the Welsh Corgi League handbook. Details are in the back of last year’s edition and have been sent out with newsletters.

In case any of you were thinking of going to the big FCI shows next year, the World Show is at Madrid on April 23-26. Breed judge is Jorgen Hindse (Denmark). At the two associated shows we have Judit Korósz-Papp (Hungary) and Gerard Jipping (Netherlands), all well known all-rounders.

The European Dog Show is at Celje in Slovenia. Breed judges are German molosser breeds expert Christofer Habig for dogs with Augusto Benedicto (Dinky) Santos III from the Philippines doing bitches and BOB. I believe he is a breed enthusiast and it was he who gave the Pem BIS at the China World Show. At the associated international show our judge is Mexican all-rounder Jose Luis Payro.
