Stop press news that entries closing date for the EuroCorgi has been extended from today until midnight on Thursday July 12. Apparently some overseas exhibitors have had a few problems in the entry process. If you are still experiencing difficulties, please contact Fosse Data. Don’t forget that visiting dogs will need an ATCV number.
The heatwave continued for East of England where Sue Harrison (Haresfoot) was judging. I’d hazard a guess that Sue is our most senior active Pem show enthusiast – her parents bred and showed the breed in the immediate post-war years and she worked for the Wey and Banhaw kennels before establishing her own line which continues today.
BOB and a fifth CC (all won this year) went to Alan and Wendy Rees’ Ch Stadwen Tinkerbell (Ch Stadwen Spartakus ex Stadwen Prima Donna).
DCC was a first for Tracy and Kath Irving’s Born To Be Your Salt Dog at Twinan and this made a little bit of history as he is the first UK Pem CC winner to be bred in Hungary. I’m sure breeders Alexandra Trefán-Tõrök and Sándor Trefán will have been thrilled especially as a Rough Collie bred by them won a UK crown – what a day!
Salty combines British and American lines, being by Hung/Rom/Greek/Mac Ch Born To Be Your Sparticus di Pi Et Ra (by Welsh King Let Them Talk About Me who has American parents ex Hung Ch Born To Be Cassiopeia with Pi Et Ra who has British parents) ex British-bred Int/Rom Ch Twinan Colour Me Red (Ch Highworth Northern Lights over Pendrell ex US-bred Ch Wakefield Red Oak Darlin Delimma Lily at Twinan).
Reserve dog was Mary Davies’ tri Ch/Rus/Ukr Ch Ermyn Snow Knight (Ch/Am Ch Rosewood Set Sail to Salvenik ex Wharrytons Pansy Potter at Ermyn) who was also BV and went on to VG3 under Graham Godfrey, as well as fourth in the veteran stakes under Raye Parry; he is following in the footsteps of his great-grandsire ‘Wings’ who also did so very well as a veteran.
Linda Roberts and Beckie Williams’ US-bred tri Coventry Sky Full Of Stars (one CC, by Am GCh Martindale Black Bart ex Am Ch Coventry Born This Way) won the RBCC while BP was Lorraine Weedall and Nicola Bogue’s Bronabay Illuminations (Ch Bronabay Cannonball ex Bronabay True Colours).
At Liskeard open show Becky May’s Barawood Pandoro at Giradellis won the puppy group, judges Hedd and Del Richards.
