All very cosmopolitan this week, starting with Scotland where we had CCs back on offer at Border Union after many years’ absence. It’s a lovely compact show in a super setting, so do think about making the trip next year.
We had a Scottish judge in Linda Preston (Willinda) and she awarded a first CC to Alan and Sarah Matthews’ tri Ir Ch Craigycor Viva Las Vegas. He is by Ch/Ir Ch Craigycor Lightning Bolt ex Craigycxor Betty Boop (both out of the famous Viva La Diva) and is litter brother to Ir Ch C Dynamo who also has a CC. He was shortlisted in the group by Kevin Young.
The BCC winner is also by Bolt, in this case Barry and Sue Coulson’s Ch Woodhenge Star Xtravaganza (ex Ch Woodhenge Star Maiden), and this was her ninth.
They also took the RCC with Oye-Dragoon-Willow des Contamines at Woodhenge, co-owned by Elisabeth Camboni and Katell Malagré. He has one CC and is by Int/Fr/Port Ch Lawrence Of Arabia des Contamines ex Fr Ch Legend Of Dragoon Rose des Contamines.
RBCC was Hannah and Patricia Fawcett’s Whitebarn Sea Shell (two CCs, Ch Pemcader Thunderball ex Whitebarn Tabitha Twitchit) and BP Judy Down’s Elessar Royal Salute (Jonloran King Of Clubs ex Wallfugh Xmas Eggnog for Elessar).
Following on, we had the League’s Scottish section open show judged by Lars Saether (Pemcader). I hear it was a lovely day for the breed with a nice atmosphere around the ring.
This proved to be a nice double for Julia Alexander with the two Pems co-owned with Mary Davies, BIS going to the dog Ermyn Knight Of The Realm (Ch/Rus/Ukr Ch Ermyn Snow Knight ex Brisam Ferrari) and BB and RBIS to Ermyn Dreams Allowed (Ir Ch Chawton Dream Maker ex Ch Vuedor Black Pearl at Ermyn).
Barry took RBD with the French boy and they bred the RBB, Kay Hogg’s Woodhenge Storm Empress in Keltybrae (Thunderball ex Woodhenge Moon Maiden). Royal Salute was again BP and Kay also took BV with Kindrummond Sophie at Keltybrae (Dennis Dawg ex Hawksclough Warrior Wanda).
British Pem judges were travelling the world that weekend with Amanda Rees (Stadwen) officiating at the Mayflower in north east USA. BOB was Nancy and Mike Oehlhof’s GChS Springmill A Blast From The Past (GCh Springmill Sweet Talkin Guy ex GCh Springmill Dec Th’Halls). Deb Shindle’s veteran bitch GChP Riverside Get Over It (Ch Aberlee Phantom Sequence ex GCh Riverside Wicked Wonderful) was BOS.
I hear that at the after-show banquet Debbie Harper (Walborah) was made an honorary member of the club and given a spectacular gift of all three sizes of the Spring Robin model. No one deserves such an accolade more - Debbie has done so much for the breed and its clubs, not least through the book she co-wrote with Mary Gay Sargent and subsequently updated. Well done Debbie.
Show entries at specialties in Europe often put ours to shame nowadays and that was certainly the case last weekend.
In Finland Linda Roberts (Cherastayne) was judging the club show with Mary Davies (Ermyn) doing the puppies and veterans and Fran Fricker (Kerman) the Cardis.
BOB and BIS was Piia Ingervo’s tri dog Ch/Sw Ch Cloudmoore Hubba-n-Bubba (by the US import AmGCh Triad Panoramic ex Int/Fin/Sw/Norw Ch Cloudmoore Be My Lover) and BOS another tri, Piritta Keranen’s Ch/Lit Ch Glamdring’s Dashing Daisy (by the same dog ex Int/Fin/Sw/Est Ch Glamdring’s Bonnie Belenos).
Off now to a very hot Austria where exhibitors had the chance to show three days running. First, the breed club hosted this year’s EuroCorgi show judged by Kevin Dover (Pemcader). BOB was a Russian-bred bitch Mistycor Serenada In Blue, owned by Natalia Ozeryanskaya. She is by US-bred Greenwoods Secret Agent II ex NZ-bred Dwyenlla Gimme That Look.
BOS went to Lithuania, to Ramune Masiokaite’s Mastermind Rudens Legendos (by NZ-bred Merthyr Wanda Do The Haka ex French-bred Je-Suis-Kylie-Minogue des Contamines).
Natalia also won best junior with Mistycor Bubbles In Champagne (Haka ex Mistycor Octavia Serendipity).
The next day saw the Pem classes at the FCI European Show, judged by Gerald King (Bimwich/Oregonian) and his BOB went on to G3 under Otto Schimpf. This was Russian-bred Aethwy Piano Man, owned by Yana Vengre Vengerova and by Snow Knight ex Aethwy Free As A Bird. Serenada was BOS this time.
Junior Winners were Elena Merlnikova’s Russian-bred Andvol Charlie Sheen (Bound For Glory ex Andvol Cherchez La Famme) and Bubbles In Champagne.
BV was Andrey Ryabets’ Russian-bred Andvol Mercury (Kinsale Star Treat ex Andvol Nina Ricci).
The Austrian Winner Show on the final day was judged by Liz Cartledge (Ryslip). Her BOB was the Russian-bred bitch Rus Glamur Challenger To Stars (Bojojamile Been Worth The Wait ex Rus Glamur Niagara), owned by Alina Semenova.
BOS was from Italy, Vittoria Valsecchi’s Wallfugh Ink To Nireno Picture (one CC, Beaudy ex Nireno Charme Bracelet).
Junior Winners were Rita Wilberg’s pair from Norway, Siggen’s Illuminator (Siggen’s Pusjkin ex Bojojamile Behind The News) and Siggen’s Karamell (Siggen’s Great Gatsby ex Siggen’s Queen Of Diamonds). Mercury was BV once again. I know lots of these have titles but few are given in the results.
I think the only UK exhibitor was Suzanna Van Eeghen who had some good places; hope she had a safe journey.
