A busy time in Amsterdam

Lots of results this week starting with Bournemouth where Gary Gray (Slatehouse German Shepherds) was the judge.

BOB was Sarah Taylor and Diana King’s Ch Oregonian Snow Tiger (Ch Nireno Luke Skywalker ex Oregonian Snow Queen), taking his sixth CC.

Reserve was Piotr Mazur and Johnathan Jones’ imported tri Can Ch Curig FarieTale Jupiterrising (Am GCh Martindale Black Bart ex Can Ch Curig FaerieTale Dusky Willow). Three of Black Bart’s progeny have now won a CC, RCC and a BP at the last two shows.

BCC was a ninth for Mary Davies’ Ch Vuedor Black Pearl of Ermyn (Ch/Rus/Ukr Ch Ermyn Snow Knight ex Vuedor Careless Whisper), now eligible for veteran, and reserve to Barry and Sue Coulson’s Ch Woodhenge Star Xtravaganza (Ch/Ir Ch Craigycor Lightning Bolt ex Ch Woodhenge Star Maiden).

Tracy and Kath Irving’s Twinan Tight Squeeze (Twinan Dip Yer Butty ex Debsanna’s Promises Twinan) was BP and Miss van Bommel’s Jonash Dream Destiny (Ir Ch Chawton Dream Maker ex Ermyn Fly Solo) was best beginners.

Meoitza Erik The King was second in the junior dog stakes under Janet Richards.

Meanwhile the FCI World Show and associated events had been taking place in Amsterdam. I’d wondered whether some UK Corgi exhibitors would have entered as it was so near to us this time, but I think the only ones to make the effort were Stephen and Sue Bale who travelled from Pembrokeshire and were rewarded with some good placings. I know there were some British spectators from the breeds, along with quite a few Australians who had stayed on after EuroCorgi.

First up was the Benelux Winner Show judged by Marie-Josée Melchior from Luxembourg. BOB, BCACIB and RCACwas the bobtail Aethwy Anya (Dragonjoy Some Bunny To Love ex Otreks Dancing Queen at Aethwy), owned by Dmitry Prokopenko from Russia. You may have seen her at EuroCorgi and some previous British shows.

BOS, DCACIB and DCAC also went to Russia, to Raisa Sidorenko’s tri Ch Andvol Mercury (Kinsale Star Treat ex Andvol Nina Ricci).

The same country also provided the reserves, Violetta Gorkovenko’s Style Life Silver Fox (Style Life Jack Daniel’s Black Label ex Life Spring Valensia) and Natalia Shmidt’s Andvol Kolombina (Andvol Ya Tvoy Kumir ex Andvol Tsirceya).

Best minor puppy was Loredge Vendee Imperiale (Salvenik Sail Away ex Loredge Amberynlea’s Inspiration), for Aksana Sosnovika, Latvia; best puppy, the Bales’ Balletcor Knights Crusade (Fortins Black And Gold Tiger ex Balletcor American Patrol); best junior, the bobtail Andvol Eyva (Andvol Zherar ex Rua Soleil Only You On The Top), Alla Erokhina, Russia; and best veteran Puksipuun Poppaloora (Shamrock o’r Tirroedd Isel ex Puksipuun Neitikaihomieli), Saara Antila, Finland.

At the World Show itself Any Hudono from Indonesia was doing Pems, apart from the puppy classes judged by Timothy Thomas from Australia.

It was again a good day for Russia with BOB etc going to Ch Mistycor Art Of Jazz (Aberlee Inside Story ex Mistycor Dee Dee Dancer), owned by Oktyabrina Rondik, and BOS etc to Ch Amerynlea Crackerjack (Donaway’s Orange Pop ex Mistycor Double Delight), owner Sergi Salnikov.

Rita Wilberg from Norway took both reserves, with the tri Ch Andvol Marshal (another by Sail Away, ex Siggen’s Quality Black Pearl) and Ch Bojojamile Behind The News (Bojojamile Bean Serious ex Bojojamile Behind Closed Doors), both of whom were at EuroCorgi.

BMP was the same as at Benelux, and BP went to Russia to Rosso Ambra del Mio Mare (Merthyr Wanda-Do-The-Haka ex Alfawish Fairy Tale), owned by Ekaterina Cypkova. She achieved the breed’s best big ring result, taking best puppy of the day.

Katell Malagre from France took BJ with the tri Aberlee Follow That Dream (another we saw at Euro, by Aberlee Take It To The Limit ex Gwyneth Paltrow des Contamines) and BV was the evergreen Russian boy Ch Andvol Pinkerton (Ermyn Cranberry Frost ex Andvol Koroleva Margo), for Olga Shuvalova.

Finally we had a breed specialty judged by Pamela Runderkamp from the Netherlands.

The Wilberg team did the double here, taking BOB with Behind the News, handled by her Australian breeder Joan Hutton. The BOB winners from group 1 had their own group judging and she ended up in runner-up spot.

BOS was another we saw at Euro, Siggen’s Great Gatsby (Mercury ex Siggen’s Spring Fling), who was also BJ.

Pinkerton was BV and reserve dog, while reserve bitch was Elena Gulyaeva’s Ch Laif Spring Revival Queen (Laif Spring Showstopper ex Laif Spring Britannia), also from Russia.

BMP went to Nireno Walk On By at Wallfugh (Milkywey’s Born In The USA ex Nireno What’s New Peggy Sue), owned by Kenichi Kojima from Australia, and it was another UK BP for Knights Crusade.

Now we jet off to the west coast of the US and the Cascade specialty, judged by Patrica Hess. BOB was Sharyl Waldron and Patty Gailey’s dog Ch Triad Highly Huggable (yet another by Black Bart, ex GCh Triad Pandorable), and BOS Diane Matsuura, Mary Hering and Tracy Liston’s Brynmors At The Ceili (GChS Nchanted Concerto ex GCh Summithill Spicey Blend of Brynmor).

Sorry to hear of the death of Sharon Lofley and Willys Treanor’s famous tri Am Ch Byendebrok Maplecreek Baccarat at the age of nearly 16. By Ch Maplecreek Montgomery (who came over to Craigycor) ex Ch Byendebrok Belles N Whistles, he had a tremendous influence on the breed in America and beyond, and was also a clever boy with a number of performance titles.

At home Chris and Elizabeth Cuthbert have lost their RCC winning Salvenik Star And A Prayer with Triella (Ch Ermyn Wing And A Prayer ex Salvenik Star Turn) at 11 years. Our sympathy to their connections.

Whew – after all that I don’t have any energy left so will end with a question I’d never thought to ask before. How do you pronounce Pembroke? As in ‘broken’ or as in ‘brook’? Or (like me) somewhere in between?
